It’s found in the DOING

I don’t know of any athlete who’s been successful in his/her sport of choice by just “thinking” about being good at sports…

Or going to “sports” seminars…

Or reading “sports” books…

Or praying about “being good at sports…”

All the most successful athletes I know are successful because they DO athlete stuff.

They wake up with the sun and head to the gym and lift.

They order the salad instead of the milkshake.

They go to the tiny gym at the hotel during that business trip instead of sleeping in.

And they do all of this even when they don’t “feel” like being an athlete.

Sure reading books, seminars and positive thinking can help…

But being a successful athlete is found in the DOING.

Just like true love is found in the DOING of loving things…

Courage is found in the DOING of courageous things…

Success is found in the DOING of successful things…

So, if you feel lacking in a certain quality…

Courage…

Love…

Kindness…

Patience…

People skills…

Negotiating…

And I could offer you some loving grandfatherly advice…

I would gently suggest that what you truly seek is found in the “doing” of it.

Even if you don’t know WHAT to do, or HOW to do it.

And if you wait until you FEEL ready, it’ll probably never happen.

Instead of reading one more book…

Or waiting until that ONE thing is jusssstttt right…

Or signing up for that that next seminar…

….where you’ll get all PuMpEd up and FEELING good…

Put aside what you “feel” like doing for a second.

And just jump in to the ice cold water of the unknown and DO it.

Yeah, you’ll feel the thousands of tiny cold needles prick your skin…

Your lungs will shrivel up until you feel like you can’t breath…

You’ll feel like you’re entire soul is being stretched like fresh taffy…

But after the uncomfortableness, you’ll look around and see that you’ve LEAPED ahead of where you were in your business, personal, church or family life.

So, in the words of the clothing brand that I can honestly say I’ve never worn, but also appears to be the brand of choice for most successful athletes:

Just DO it.

Rootin’ for ya,

Aaron
